A genius Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is the most famous musician, singer and celebrity of this decade, and most probably she will keep such fame for a good number of decades to come. She is already considered to be a music icon, a living legend, and is already in the same league with the likes of Madonna and The Beatles.

Irrelevant of what music genre you like and follow, you definitely heard of Lady Gaga. Even my 80 year old grandmother knows about her. Ever wondered how Lady Gaga stormed to success? Her music? I seriously doubt it. Don't get me wrong. When compared to the other cheap pop music of nowadays, Lady Gaga's work is quite unique, catchy and impressive. Her music could be part of the success, but it's not everything.

Scandals, rebel behaviour and outrages costumes are attracting the media attention, and she is stealing the limelight from all other artists out there. These are the secret ingredients of the formula for her world stardom. Looking at Lady Gaga's career, these things were, and still are more important than the music itself. Browsing the internet, or Googling Lady Gaga, very rarely you will end up reading some article about her music, or some review. Most of the time, even if you don't specifically Google Lady Gaga, you have to read about her on the news and paparazzi sites. Some journalists criticize her, fans admire her, celebrities make fun of her, and network news invite her over for interviews and features.

I've read articles and ran into people who deny most of the above. Their reasoning is that there has been a good number of eccentric entertainers before her, but they never flew as high as Lady Gaga. This is a true fact, but one must also note that when such artists were around, there was no internet. The internet, and the new social media craze allows everyone to be updated all the time. It gives the opportunities to everyone to expose himself more, sometimes even when they don't want to. Lady Gaga is exploiting such opportunities as a means to reach a wider public, irrelevant if they like her music or not. Let's not forget that as long as Lady Gaga or any other musician is famous, clubs will play their music, irrelevant how good their music is.

I personally think that Lady Gaga is a genius. She is not a simple humble musician trying to make a quid out of her music, but she is a complete money making artist who is able to build a business empire!
